Advanced imaging systems, such as HiRISE aboard NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), deliver high-resolution images (up to 0.3 meters per pixel). These images allow scientists and mission planners to:
- Identify flat, smooth areas suitable for safe landings.
- Detect potential hazards like large rocks and craters.
- Map pathways for exploration rovers and human mobility systems.
Cadets at Starfleet Space Academy will train in terrain analysis and navigation techniques to operate effectively in such landscapes.
