Starfleet Starship Personnel Careers

Starfleet Space Academy envisions the need to identify, vet and train the following crew positions for a Starfleet Starship.

Commanding Officer (CO) – Captain or Mission Commander responsible for overall mission success, navigation, and leadership

Executive Officer (XO) – First Officer or Deputy Commander, assisting with mission operations, crew management, and emergency protocols

Navigator – Flight Navigator or Pilot, handling trajectory calculations, course plotting, and space navigation

Communications Officer – Communications Specialist, handling communication with mission control, other spacecraft, and external contacts

Chief of the Watch – Shift Supervisor or Systems Monitor, overseeing various systems and ensuring operational readiness during shifts

Engineering Officer – Chief Engineer or Systems Engineer, managing spacecraft systems, propulsion, power generation, and repair

Sensors Specialist or Payload Specialist – Sensors Specialist or Payload Specialist, operating sensors and instruments for space navigation, environmental monitoring, and scientific experiments

Damage Control Officer – Emergency Response Coordinator or Systems Engineer, handling crisis situations, repairs, and maintaining life support systems

Medical Officer – Medical Officer or Flight Surgeon, responsible for crew health, first aid, and medical emergencies.

Helmsman – Pilot or Helmsman, controlling the spacecraft’s propulsion and maneuvering systems

Quartermaster – Logistics Officer or Supply Specialist, overseeing the storage, inventory, and distribution of supplies and resources

Security Officer – Defense Specialist or Security Officer, managing any onboard security systems and defensive measures, though space missions typically don’t involve weapons

Culinary Specialist – Space Chef or Food Systems Specialist, preparing meals and managing food supplies in a zero-gravity environment

Reconnaissance Specialist – Science Officer or Recon Specialist, conducting research, collecting data, and performing surveys of space environments and celestial bodies

Administrative Assistant – Administrative Officer or Mission Coordinator, managing documentation, records, and mission planning tasks
